About Us
The Scale of the Problem
11% of global emissions stem from the extraction, processing and disposal of virgin materials for construction, inflicting irreversible harm on the Earth’s natural environment.
In the UK, 64% of waste also originates from the construction sector, a consequence of the linear material economy.
A shift to a circular economy mindset is estimated to prevent 75% of these emissions. However, despite this potential, only approximately 6% of construction materials in the UK are currently reused.
Collaboration is Key
The circular economy in the construction industry will not be able to flourish without collaboration. A significant mindset shift is required. Education, policy change, entrepreneurship and flexibility within construction are paramount.
When we all band together it is possible to build an extraordinary network that allows buildings to be created from existing materials.
Mission & Vision
Our Mission & Vision
At re:new, we are scaling material reuse in the built environment. Accelerating the shift from virgin material extraction to urban mining.
We envision a construction industry where material reuse is standard practice, and existing buildings are recognised as material banks.
By recognising the full value of what already exists, we can build a less wasteful, more respectful, and more circular built environment.
How we achieve it
We equip teams to reuse at scale by unlocking materials embedded in existing buildings.
We do this through a knowledge-sharing platform with structured repeatable workflows and by connecting reuse services with existing supply. Making material reuse actionable, accessible, and scalable across the construction industry.
